Schools We Serve

Summer Project 2023

Bangladesh

August 23rd, 2023 our co-founder Rose gave a speech about the importance of menstrual hygiene at Hazaribagh Girls’ Public High School in Dhaka, Bangladesh and donated 2,000 menstrual pads to over 100 students! This marks the completion of Period Project’s first global initiative!

Only 53% of girls in Bangladesh had heard of menstruation before getting their first period. Additionally, menstrual hygiene is not taught in schools. 80% of women reuse rags as sanitary napkins, leading to infections and even ovarian cancer.

Through Period Project NC’s efforts we hope to help provide girls in Bangladesh with support and the resources they need to take care of their bodies. We believe everyone should have the right to manage their menstrual health safely, with dignity, and without barriers. Today was a significant step towards that vision.

We are excited to open this new chapter of international change making and thank you so much to all who have helped us support girls not only in NC, but even across the world.
